Champions League Implications – Semi-Final Edition

One round of playoffs are in the books, and it’s time to look back at what happened this week, and what we have to look forward to this week.

Current Champions League Order

It was shaping up to be a tight finish with only the Monday night game left, and we were not disappointed, as at the end of the night, the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the round were separated by less than half a tackle (which is why I’m just finishing this off this morning). Well within stat correction range, we had to wait until this morning to get an official result. Jordan Whitehead was awarded an additional tackle, allowing Greg to jump over Mark to get into the semi-final.

It was chalk in this one as the #3 and #4 seeds moved on. The division matchup between the Stache and Snappers was a close one, but Smitty held on to keep his hopes of another trophy alive. For the purposes of this exercise, nothing overly exciting as the 2 non-Champs managers we’re resting on Bye. Is this the year Conrod gets over the hump and into a championship game? 

REEL Football League

1. West Canaan High (Jamie Thompson) *

3. Polk High Panthers (Steve Leacock)
4. Mean Machine (Cole Davidson)
5. Eastern State University (Rick Scott) *
6. East Dillon High (Sean Laycock) *

Polk had been on a roll down the stretch, but they fell short this week, getting rolled by East Dillon. That leaves Cole as the only non-Champs manager left. These should be some solid semi-final match-ups. Each team here is capable of putting up an easy 250.

A couple division match-ups ahead with the Winos facing off against the Cocks, looking to keep an undefeated season intact. The Cocks manager, Fitzy trying to grab a spot in the Champions League. The Chalupas and Bryce is Right have had a couple good matches already, splitting the season series, with the most recent being decided by less than a point.

One team remaining here with Champions League aspirations still, as Delaware knocks off Richmond, who had been hot heading into the playoffs. This is still Northwestern’s to lose in my opinion, so that run may be coming to an end.
