It’s been a busy season at EBFL HQ so the recaps and Commish Reports have fallen by the wayside, but I have some free time thanks to a week off for American Thanksgiving, so we’re going to do a rundown of each teams playoff chances with 3 match-ups remaining. The Bananas, WDJFS and Dancers have all been eliminated and the Snappers magic number is 1 VP to be knocked out, so we’re not going to bother with them. The Nagintas are the only team that have locked up a playoff position, but they’re still playing for a division crown and the overall top spot.
Deadly Nagintas
Remaining Schedule: Bandits, Rexes, Boners
Possibilities: The Nagintas face 3 possible playoff teams down the stretch (as does most of the Senor Crabs division) and could go 0-3 and still make the playoffs and have a first round bye as long as they continue to score above a 200 point per week clip as only 1 VP is needed to clinch the division. They are currently 10 points up on the Boners for the division and 7 up on the Rexes for the top seed. They play both in a Week 13 double header.
Rex in the City
Remaining Schedule: WDJFS, Nagintas, Dancers
Possibilities: The Rexes are in a pretty good spot with 2 weeks to go, as they hold a 5 point lead on the Ballers while still having WDJFS and Dancers left on their schedule. If they don’t somehow falter against the dregs of the league they should take home another Taco Corp crown and likely a 1st round Bye. They can clinch in Week 12 if they pick up 2 VP on the Ballers. Ultimately though, they just need to win those 2 division games and pick up 1 scoring VP to clinch the division and a first round Bye since they’d have a better record than the Ballers and whoever comes out of Yobagoya. At 7 points back of the Nagintas for the top overall spot, they’re going to have to win out and hope the Nagintas do a complete faceplant in the final 2 weeks.
Fear Boners
Remaining Schedule: Chalupas, Stache, Nagintas
Possibilities: The Boners are currently in the driver’s seat in the Wild Card race being 2 points up on Chalupas, Bandits and Ballers with the edge in record on all 3 and points on their division foes. They can possibly lock up a spot in the playoffs this week, with a win over the Chalupas combined with a Stache loss and an appropriate allotment of VP. That said, it likely goes down to Week 13 where they have the Stache and Nagintas. Those are two tough games, and them getting in could come down to scoring VP in the final week.
Loose Bandits
Remaining Schedule: Nagintas, WDJFS, Chalupas
Possibilities: The Bandits can put themselves in a real good spot by upsetting the Nagintas as they have what should be a gimme in Week 13 with WDJFS. They do catch the Nagintas without their top QB and top RB, so it’s possible. If not, it could set up a defacto playoff game with the Chalupas in Week 13 with the winner getting in. That’d be fun.
Chalupa Batman
Remaining Schedule: Boners, Idiots, Bandits
Possibilities: The Chalupas have an uphill climb to get in, being the lowest scoring team of the contenders, but it’s not an insurmountable number that they can’t get themselves on the right side of any tie-breakers (which this very well could come down to). If they can beat both the Boners and Bandits, they should make their 4th playoff appearance. No Tyreek and possibly no Jimmy Graham will make the front side of that difficult.
Knuckle Ballers
Remaining Schedule: Dancers, Bananas, WDJFS
Possibilities: The Ballers SHOULD be in the playoffs. They have the easiest remaining schedule, facing 3 Frittata Bowl teams while the 3 teams currently ahead of them each face at least one of the other 2. They’re also the highest scoring team of the WC contenders. If they can’t get in, they should fire their coach.
Greg Schiano is an Idiot
Remaining Schedule: Stache, Chalupas, Snappers
Possibilities: The Idiots are in a good spot, being able to lock up their division with a Week 12 win against the team chasing them. They’d likely eliminate the 2-time defending champ from playoff contention in doing so. If they falter against the Stache (which is possible with no Gurley), they’ll need to at least take the easy W against the Snappers and some scoring VP and/or hope the Boners can help them out.
Tom Selleck’s Moustache
Remaining Schedule: Idiots, Boners, Bananas
Possibilities: The only chance the Stache have of getting in the playoffs is running the table, and scoring big in the process. That still might not be enough, as they’d still need plenty of help, but it’s still possible. They do catch a break in Week 12 as the Idiots are without their best player and possible OPOTY, Todd Gurley. The consistency hasn’t been there this year, and the run is likely over. They likely have to win the division as I don’t see them jumping 2 teams from Senor Crabs.
Prediction:
It very well may come down to the Monday nighter with scoring VP being huge in Week 13 but this is how we think things will shake down after looking at some matchups for key players over the final 2 weeks. We won’t be surprised if Boners/Ballers is split by a tiebreak down to total points.
