Each semi-final featured a Watford vs Owen Sound match up, and the larger center came out on top in both. The Stache and the Chalupas took advantage of their extra week of rest, and punched their tickets to Igloo Bowl III with semi-final victories over the Rexes and Bandits, respectively. Every match-up this weekend was a good one, with all 4 coming down to Monday night results before being locked up, with the Chalupas the only team that could really feel comfortable about where they stood. So we head into the final week of real competition with only Laker and Smitty left chasing the trophy. Good luck, fellas!
Igloo Bowl Bracket
#2 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (206.36) def #3 Rex in the City (202.1)
In the most exciting match-up of the week, the Stache knocked off the Taco Corp winning Rexes to ensure we will have our 3rd different champion in the short history of the EBFL. This one was so tight, that the projections on top of the current scores had these teams in a tie heading into the Monday night game. The running game was the key to the Stache season and the key to this victory. When you have a pair of players go over 30 points each, you’re going to be tough to beat. Thankfully for the Stache, they aren’t left to consider what might have been had they rolled with Andrew Luck.
Game MVP: Devonta Freeman – Everyone gets to have a field day against the Niners D, and Freeman was no exception, piling up over 150 yards and 3 scores.
Goat: Bobby Wagner – There weren’t really any awful performances for the Rexes, as they put up a good number, but to win it all, you need your studs to be studs, and Wagners 5.25 just didn’t cut it this week.
#1 Chalupa Batman (204.6) def #4 Loose Bandits (178.63)
The Chalupas head to their second straight final looking to keep the trophy in the Senor Crabs after eliminating their division rival in the semi-finals. The Chalupas are now hoping to start a trend of losing in the final one season, then taking it home the next, following in the Nagintas footsteps. Speaking of Nagintas, players that were on their roster prior to the deadline were the high scorers for both teams in this match-up…bargains if you ask me!
Game MVP: Johnathan Cyprien – If the Chalupas can take the title he may end up as the playoff MVP after back to back 20 point weeks.
Goat: Bandits WR – This was supposed to be the top WR unit in the league this season (unless you talk to the Snappers), but when 4 guys can’t even muster a total of 20 points between them, you’re not destined for greatness.
Extra Pick Bracket
#6 What Does John Fox Say (190.55) def #4 Endzone Dancers (187.08)
So much for the Dancers being in a great spot, as they ended up dropping this one, which was well over the scoring average for each of these clubs, and easily the highest score for the year for WDJFS. The WDJFS defense was solid outside of a couple players, and the boom/bust WR corps was more boom than bust this week, and now WDJFS is one win away from some additional trade bait, as we all know Scotty will never actually hang on to and make this pick.
Game MVP: Tyler Lockett – Lockett had his best game of the season, putting up 130 yards on 7 grabs, and adding a TD. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get to play the Rams every week.
Goat: Doug Martin – Martin was never able to get going as Tampa trailed early against Dallas and Sims was back which takes Martin away in the passing game.
#2 Deadly Nagintas (156.65) def #5 Knuckle Ballers (153.71)
In the lowest scoring game of the week, the Nagintas held on to knock the Ballers out of extra pick contention by a narrow margin. It was a pretty lousy week for the Nagintas, with only DPOTY candidate Kwon Alexander putting up a performance worth discussing. On the other side, there weren’t any great performances and starting a player that was inactive proved costly. The Ballers also ended up dropping points to everyone in the Frittata Bowl and another lousy game could see them ending up with the crown.
Game MVP: Kwon Alexander – He had a field day against Dallas, as he was always around the ball and ultimately in on 21 stops (2 for loss), plus a forced fumble.
Goat: Rob Conrod – Starting CJ Fiedorowicz proved costly, as Clay would have won the Ballers the game and a shot at an extra 2016 pick.
Frittata Bowl Standings (Unofficial)
- What Does John Fox Say – 411.74 – 181.94, 229.80

- Endzone Dancers – 430.16 – 202.27, 227.89
