Igloo Bowl III is now in the rear-view and we have our 3rd different champion in 3 seasons, with the Stache win giving each division a title over that span. It was a fitting final with the #1 and #2 seeds squaring off, and for the 3rd straight season, the regular season champion didn’t end up winning the title. The Chalupas’ improbable run was ended by the solid top to bottom offense of the Stache. It was an impressive turn-around for the Stache as they were the 2015 Frittata. Speaking of which, we have our 3rd different Frittata Bowl ‘champ’, as WDJFS earns the 2016 title (with almost the same score as Smitty in ’15), and a sweet addition to their GM’s ride.
Igloo Bowl Bracket
#2 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (221.82) def #1 Chalupa Batman (198.17)
In the closest final in EBFL history, Tom Selleck’s Moustache bested cross-town rival Chalupa Batman to take the Igloo Bowl trophy north. The offense continued to roll for the Stache, and the Chalupas didn’t get the defensive scores they’re accustomed to and fell several points short. Still, the Chalupas have to consider this season a success considering they were a joke of a franchise heading into the season. The Stache on the other hand finally had a season where things went right for them, after being a pre-season contender the first 2 years and falling well short of the mark.
Game MVP: Jay Ajayi – Ajayi put up his 2nd best game of the season to lead the Stache to victory. The trade which saw Zeke Elliott land in someone else’s hands has to be easier to swallow now.
Playoff MVP: LeSean McCoy – Shady enjoyed a bit of a renaissance during the playoffs, being the 2nd overall in scoring over the 3 week period.
Goat: Willie Snead – In all fairness, Willie Snead should not be relied on to win a fantasy title, but he was the lowest scoring non-DT on the roster.
Extra Pick Bracket
#5 Deadly Nagintas (193.96) def #1 What Does John Fox Say (92.26)
The Nagintas go into the off-season winners again in 2016, this time of the consolation bracket, and the extra pick at the end of the second round. This one was never close, probably thanks to Saturday games (due to Christmas being Sunday), and the lack of foresight of WDJFS to set a line up. Then again, his optimal line up was only 173 points, so it wouldn’t have mattered either way. WDJFS adds insult to injury as they end up as the 2016 Frittata Bowl Champion. It will be an interesting off-season for the oft-active WDJFS, as they have next to no high end talent, and several players closer to retirement than their glory days.
Game MVP: Dez Bryant – Dez capped off an up and down season with a big game, and he looks to lead what should be a rookie laden team back to glory in 2017.
Goat: Adrian Peterson – a lost season ends with another inactive and a zero.
Frittata Bowl Standings
1. What Does John Fox Say (584.79) – 181.94, 229.80, 173.05
2. Greg Schiano is an Idiot (642.02) – 196.96, 229.00, 216.06
3. Endzone Dancers (659.72) – 202.27, 227.79, 229.66
4. Knuckle Ballers (680.69) – 252.11, 196.15, 232.43
WDJFS are the new recipients of the Frittata Award and the new owners of license plate covers. For the 3rd straight season, the winner of the Frittata Bowl won’t be the owner of the 1.01 as the Nagintas already own WDJFS 1st round pick, following the Snappers and Stache both dealing their 1sts well in advance of finishing last. Other than the ‘winner’, this year’s Frittata Bowl was much again higher scoring than last.
Thanks again to everyone for another great season. I believe we have everyone returning again for 2016, making for zero turnover in 4 seasons. This truly is an awesome league, and I’m glad to be a part of it.
