Week 6 really jumbled up the standings, with all 3 division leaders at the start of the week, finding themselves outside of the division lead when the week ended. All 6 of the teams involved are headed for games against each other, which could flip flop things all over again. Week 7 is going to be fun.
Matchups
2-4 Deadly Nagintas (190.25) – 0-6 What Does John Fox Say (159.73)
The Nagintas managed to do what everyone else in the league has been doing…beat WDJFS. The offensive backfield carried the load with Michael and Stewart both going for over 20 points and Brees having a huge day. They’ll need to get some improved play from their pass catchers to live up to that 91% playoff odds from last week’s report. WDJFS got a great day out of their Lions connection, but there wasn’t much else to get excited about. They’re still cruising to a Frittata title.
5-1 Chalupa Batman (225.96) – 4-2 Endzone Dancers (163.00)
The Chalupas have taken over the top spot in the entire league with the convincing win over the Dancers, also picking up the high score on the week. Most of the offense was great for the Chalupas, with the runners doing the bulk of the damage. The Chalupas appear to be for real and can put themselves in a great position with a win over the Bandits in Week 7. The Dancers dropped out of the division lead with the loss and as a result find themselves outside the playoff picture. Fortunately for them, they have a chance to go get that spot back with a divisional game against the Rexes.
3-3 Greg Schiano is an Idiot (200.71) – 2-4 Knuckle Ballers (150.52)
The Idiots gave the Ballers the boot this week leapfrogged them in the standings and got themselves out of a Frittata Bowl position in the process. Every one of their RB and WR scored in double digits to get them over the 200 point mark. Losing Dwayne Allen long term may hurt in the tight Yobagoya race, but having Charles back should make up for what they lose at TE. The Ballers got great games out of Brady and Tate, but the rest of the roster was so so, and they took a 50 point loss as a result. The Ballers at least have their Bye week to look forward to.
4-2 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (203.05) – 5-1 Loose Bandits (191.68)
The Stache had some monster performances to be the first in the league to knock off the Bandits this season, and we will go another year without a perfect regular season record. Outside of about 4 guys, the Stache didn’t do a whole lot and will need to get some more consistency to be a force late in the season. With the win, the Stache are now in the driver’s seat in the Yobagoya with a Week 7 date with the 2nd place Bananas on tap. All 3 divisions will have 1 vs 2 match-ups this week, as the Bandits get a shot at the Chalupas.
2-4 Long Snappers (207.46) – 3-3 Fear Boners (175.75)
The Snappers bounced back this week against the Boners, to pick up their first win in 4 tries against the Senor Frogs division. There were several bright spots on both sides of the ball, and this could be a dangerous team in the 2nd half if they can manage to pick up a win this coming week against the Idiots, with 4 games against the Taco Corp. The Boners got another great game from the early OPOTY favourite, David Johnson, but it wasn’t enough to keep pick up ground on some of the top teams that lost. They currently find themselves in the final playoff spot, but this division is looking like a gauntlet.
3-3 Rex in the City (168.90) – 4-2 San Juan Bananas (154.26)
The Rexes weren’t great this week, but they were good enough to bruise the Bananas, with the win putting them back in the top spot in their division. Hunter Henry looked like the real deal on Thursday night, and the Rexes may continue to rely heavily on the TE position as they have in the past. The Bananas offense, outside of Gronk, was pretty awful this week, with only AJ Green reaching double digits, and barely at that. The Bananas have a chance to retake their division lead as they face off against the Stache in Week 7.
Week 6 Awards
Offensive Player of the Week
Odell Beckham Jr (Tom Selleck’s Moustache) – Apparently football is fun again, and himself and the kicking net are back to being friends. What a goof.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jatavis Brown (Long Snappers) – A great game from the impressive Chargers LB. He managed 14 total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.
Rookie of the Week
Jatavis Brown (Long Snappers) – See above.
Goat of the Week
Delanie Walker (Loose Bandits) – Walker only had one catch, and an average Walker game likely would have at least made this one real close.
Pickup of the Week
Nick Bellore (Deadly Nagintas) – The waiver linebacker put up almost 20 points in the Nagintas line-up this week.
Bench Player of the Week
Jay Ajayi (Tom Selleck’s Moustache) – Smitty had the 3 of the top 4 scoring players this week. May have had a shot at weekly high score if he played Ajayi.
Bonehead Coaching Move of the Week
Rob Conrod (Knuckle Ballers) – Starting Sammie Coates when it was quite evident he was going to have a hard time doing much with his hand injury on top of his existing drops issue.
Playoff Odds
- Loose Bandits (95.9%) —
- Greg Schiano is an Idiot (93.8%) +2
- Deadly Nagintas (77.9%) -1
- Long Snappers (65.0%) +4
- San Juan Bananas (64.6%) -2
- Knuckle Ballers (64.0%) -1
- Chalupa Batman (52.6%) —
- Endzone Dancers (50.3%) -2
- Tom Selleck’s Moustache (34.5%) —
- Rex in the City (5.7%) —
- What Does John Fox Say (2.4%) —
- Fear Boners (1.3%) –
This is still a complete gong show if you ask me. No change to the bottom 4 spots, but a bunch of movement around the middle, with the Idiots and Snappers taking a big jump.
