The playoffs have started, but someone forgot to tell most of the league. After a monster Week 13, teams came out flat, with only 2 of 12 going over 200, neither of which were Wild Card round participants. The Ballers bounced back from a lacklustre performance in last season’s playoff to pick up their first franchise post-season victory. They’ll now face the Chalupas with an Igloo Bowl berth on the line. They’ll go in as significant underdogs, but at this point anything can happen, anyone can win (so trust your sports gut!). The Nagintas will now face the Idiot juggernaut, after they edged the Snappers in a game that went right down to the wire on Monday night. These 2 are projected to be the highest scoring on the week, with the Idiots being a 10.5 point favourite. For the record, Bobber is 2 for 2 in his playoff predictions thus far. There’s also no chance of Mark and Mike Bryce just swapping ‘trophies’ now, as the Snappers were eliminated.
Igloo Bowl Bracket
#3 Knuckle Ballers (164.86) def #6 Loose Bandits (154.71)
In easily the lowest scoring match of the weekend (including consolation), the Ballers held off a late charge by the Bandits to pick up their first playoff win. There weren’t a pile of great performances on the Ballers, but they did enough to get the job done, with Golden Tate and Gary Barnidge leading the way. The Ballers now square off against the Chalupas, each looking for their first championship game appearance. The Bandits are now done for the year, and very well could be the busiest or most popular guy in the off-season with all of those first round picks. This is a team on the rise, and the Senor Crabs division looks to get that much tougher to win.
Game MVP: Golden Tate – Tate did a little bit of everything in the win, rushing, receiving, returning and put up 2 scores in the process.
Goat: Amari Cooper – Cooper took the zero in the Raider win, knocking the Bandits from the playoffs, and possibly Cooper from serious ROTY consideration.
#5 Deadly Nagintas (178.75) def #4 Long Snappers (172.89)
It looks like playoff experience was all the difference this week, as the Nagintas followed the Ballers lead and knocked a playoff rookie out early. The Nagintas were led by their RB this week, which is a bit strange, since RB seems to be an afterthought for this squad, as well as the secondary. .
Game MVP: AJ Green – Last year’s deadline acquisition was full value despite losing his QB early, going for 132 yards and a score on 6 catches.
Goat: Morgan Burnett – A half tackle was all he could muster against the Cowboys. In his defence, the Cowboys offence wasn’t on the field much.
Extra Pick Bracket
#1 San Juan Bananas (193.87) def #4 Fear Boners (191.58)
The Bananas showed why they’re the favourite in the consolation side, softening up the Boners on the way to a 2 point victory. There was plenty of good to go along with plenty of bad for the Bananas and now they move on to face division foe Stache in the semis. The Boners are done for the season, now just trying to avoid being the 2015 EBFL Frittata. They likely advance if Atlanta puts up any fight against Carolina.
Game MVP: Khalil Mack – I know they lost, but this performance needs to be acknowledged. A 5 sack game led the Raiders to the upset over Denver.
Goat: Larry Fitzgerald – Fitz picked a bad time to have his 2nd worst game of the season.
#2 Endzone Dancers (222.79) def #3 Rex in the City (179.96)
The Dancers were great all over the field (except maybe the secondary), and cruised to a big win over the defending champions. Over 30 points from your DL is incredible and Fat Eddy got back on track against the Cowboys in sloppy conditions at Lambeau. The Dancers get the bottom dwelling WDJFS now in their quest for the 2.13. The Rexes limp into the off-season with an old, ugly team, and dwindling days with the Igloo Bowl Trophy. Dark days are ahead in Watford.
Game MVP: Eddy Lacy – He’s taken a lot of shit from the fantasy world lately, so we have to give props on his big game.
Goat: Commish – For rolling Anthony Barr out on Thursday night as an inactive.
