In another exciting finish to the EBFL regular season, which featured the highest scoring week over all in league history, we determined the final two play-off contenders and locked up the 4 Frittata Bowl participants. In an interesting turn of events, there is the possibility of the championship team from 2014 being the worst team in 2015, as well as the 2014 Frittata being in the mix for the 2015 title. A Tale of Two Bryces if you will.
Week 14 will feature a pair of inter-division match ups with the Snappers and Nagintas facing off in a bit of a cruel twist of fate as they both have more VP than the 2 teams in the other quarter, the Bandits and Ballers. We have 3 teams making their first play-off appearance, although the Idiots have to wait a week to get in on the action.
Don’t forget to set your line ups through the play-offs, even if you’re eliminated or on Bye, as your 16 week total is what counts towards the Dynasty Bonus pot!
Week 13 Matchups
12-1 Greg Schiano is an Idiot (241.81) – 3-10 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (215.77)
The Idiots cap off their dominant season with another victory over the Stache, and head into the play-offs as the #1 seed. As we’ve said numerous times, it’s been a remarkable turn around for this squad, and this division as a whole, as there are no ‘gimmies’. The Idiots are the favourites to take down the Igloo Bowl and earn their first EBFL championship. The Stache head to the Frittata Bowl for the first time, but should be relatively safe with the talent on the team. I bet Smitty wishes he could have the Ajayi deal back, with the potential he could have had one of the top 2 RB in the 2016 draft if he stood pat.
9-4 Long Snappers (217.14) – 6-7 San Juan Bananas (201.66)
The Snappers effectively end the Bananas season with the narrow victory, and head into the play-offs for the first time, as the top wild card team and #4 seed. They’ll face off against the Nagintas, who they beat in a close Week 6 match up. Allen Robinson was an absolute beast this week, putting up 3 scores to lead the Snappers. The Bananas now head to the consolation round after a late season run that made things interesting. They have to be the odds on favourites to capture the 2.13 pick in the 2015 rookie draft. It will be interesting to see what happens with this roster in the off-season. There are plenty of names that don’t hold much trade value, but seem to perform decently on a regular basis.
8-5 Loose Bandits (223.54) – 7-6 Deadly Nagintas (185.47)
The Bandits put up another 200 point week to knock off the Nagintas and earn their way into the play-offs for the first time in franchise history. They now have a date with Taco Corp champion Ballers. The Bandits got big games from TJ Yeldon and Ted Ginn Jr and their secondary to pull off the upset. Two of the Bandits 3 200 point weeks have come against the Nagintas, with the other coming against their play-off foe. They made need to make it 4 to move on and get the Idiots. The Nagintas limp into the play-offs with a 2 game losing streak, and instead of a Week 14 Bye they now have to go on the road to the Snappers and try to put an end to their nonsense.
8-5 Chalupa Batman (233.74) – 5-8 Fear Boners (197.29)
The Chalupas catch a break with the Nagintas faltering down the stretch, to earn their first division title, and the Week 14 Bye. Antonio Brown continues to kill it for the Chalupas and is a likely Offensive Player of the Year candidate if he continues his recent play through the championship round. The Boners are on the rise, and have performed much better as of late, but unfortunately for them, they’re in the running for EBFL Frittata. They should be safe with all of the young talent they have that is finally getting an opportunity, and not having to guess right in line up decisions.
6-7 Rex in the City (194.18) – 3-10 What Does John Fox Say (110.67)
In a normal week, this likely would have gotten the Rexes out of the Frittata Bowl, but all of the high scores, leave them with only the 2 points for the win. Fortunately for the Rexes, WDJFS is also in the Frittata Bowl, and is the odds on favourite to take the ‘crown’. The Rexes put up solid numbers all over, even despite a pair of donuts, and it’s really beginning to look like they’ve made out quite well in the Aaron Rodgers dump. WDJFS just doesn’t have the talent to compete right now, and the immediate future isn’t looking overly promising either. The team has next to nothing for startable WR, and when you can roll out 5 of them, that’s a big hole to fill.
5-8 Knuckle Ballers (215.13) – 6-7 Endzone Dancers (162.69)
As predicted, the Ballers lock up a division title despite a terrible record. They beat up on the Dancers this week to earn their 2nd trip to the big dance, and a very winnable first round match up against the Bandits. Tom Brady continues to be a beast, and has made the steep price Conrod paid to get him worth it in the end, with another $40 in his pocket with a chance for more over the next few weeks. The Chiefs finally started using Jeremy Maclin, and Greg Olsen continued his great season, and the Ballers could making things interesting now that they’re in. The Dancers lose, but avoid the Frittata Bowl, and now look to try and win the bonus pick, as they only have one right now for the 2016 draft.
Week 13 Awards
Offensive Player of the Week
Allen Robinson (Long Snappers) – Robinson may be working himself into Offensive Player of the Year contention if he keeps this up. He hauled in 10 grabs for 153 and 3 trips to the endzone.
Defensive Player of the Week
Malcolm Jenkins (Greg Schiano is an Idiot) – The Idiots late season pick up paid off this week with a huge game against the Pats. He was all over the place, even scoring a TD.
Rookie of the Week
Marcus Mariota (Tom Selleck’s Moustache) – Mariota went off this week, being the 3rd highest scorer in the league. Can Smitty steal another ROTY award out of nowhere?
Goat of the Week
Eddy Lacy (Endzone Dancers) – Lacy went under 1 point with a division championship on the line. We’re back to fat Eddy Lacy who seems to be pretty useless.
Pickup of the Week
Rolando McClain (Knuckle Ballers) -McClain put up double digits in the Ballers division clinching victory, with 5 solos and 5 assists.
Bench Player of the Week
Richard Rodgers (Chalupa Batman) – Nothing like a little Hail Mary action to give you a boost on the week. He snatched 8 balls for 146, including the long TD to win the game.
Bonehead Coaching Move of the Week
None this week.
