We’ve come to the end of another great season of the Eskimo Brothers Football League. It was another active year of trading, waiver claims and shit talk, which culminated in the Deadly Nagintas taking home their first championship after pulling off the biggest upset in league history, knocking off the 12-1 Idiots, in the semi.
The playoff races were much closer this season, going right down to the final week, as the Bandits held off the charging Bananas, who couldn’t even manage to take down the consolation round against inferior teams. Injuries were again a huge factor in 2015, with a large number of star players spending several weeks banged up, or hobbling through their games with down performances.
Now we get into the best part of a Dynasty League: The Off-Season. As we head into the 3rd season of this endeavour, most teams have it figured out, and appear to be building competitive teams, which should make for some awesome playoff races over the next few seasons. We’ll be back with the first Commish Report of the 2016 season early in the new year with a look at each team’s needs as we head towards free agency and the rookie draft.
Highlights/Lowlights
The Bryces flip-flopped EBFL roles with Marky being a title contender and Mike participating in the Frittata Bowl.
The Co-GM thing seemed to be ironed out a little for the Snappers, but some teams are growing frustrated trying to deal with multiple people.
The Idiots put together one of the best regular season’s I’ve ever seen in my history playing fantasy football. They were dominant on the way to 12-1 record with 8 high scores in 13 weeks
Three teams made the playoffs in back to back seasons, as the Chalupas, Nagintas and Ballers all made it in again.
A total of 129 trades from the end of the 2014 season until the deadline.
Tom Selleck’s Moustache giving up his 1st round pick (which ended up as the 1.01) to acquire Jay Ajayi and a 3rd.
Tavon Austin was actually a contributor in 2015 after all of the 2014 nonsense.
Terrence Williams didn’t actually get traded despite all of San Juan’s offers. I wonder why?
Several records fell in 2015, with the Idiots setting several new marks for team dominance.
Despite people considering 2015 a lower end rookie class, several rookie records fell.
Year End Awards
Offensive Player of the Year
Antonio Brown (Chalupa Batman) – Brown broke his own season-long WR scoring record by a few points, and carried the injury plagued Chalupas to a division title and championship game appearance. He was the highest scoring non-QB, and best WR by just under a point per game. Brown pulled down 5 first place votes, and edged out Cam Newton, who also had 5 first place votes, but didn’t carry enough 2nds to earn the award.
Defensive Player of the Year
Reshad Jones (Chalupa Batman) – Another Chalupas award winner, as the safety was the highest scoring defender in the league, even besting the top LB, Telvin Smith (albeit with Smith missing the season finale). He was the best DB by almost 3 points per game, and a distinct advantage at the position. Jones was the most convincing winner of the group, nabbing 6 first place votes and winning by 6 points. He appeared on 11 of the 12 ballots.
Rookie of the Year
Todd Gurley (What Does John Fox Say) – Just like in 2014, a player who started the season on the shelf performed significantly well from Week 6 on, in order to lead rookie in PPG scoring, and take the award. Gurley was the focal point of the Rams offence, giving him a leg up on other contenders who were surrounded by more talent. Gurley was the leading candidate on 6 ballots and is the first 1st overall rookie pick to earn the award.
