We’re almost to the half way point of the regular season, and things are much more interesting than they were last season. Pretty much every team is at least in the playoff mix with the exception of the Boners, Rexes and WDJFS, while the Idiots are the only team really pulling away at the top. It should make for a fun few weeks, as teams jockey for position and try to decide if they’re buyers or sellers at the deadline. The trades are pretty fast and furious around here, so it will probably be a quiet deadline.
Terrence Williams was a disappointment again this week, throwing up a zero on the Bananas bench. There is a silver lining though, as it was the Dallas Bye week, so he wasn’t playing. Just a quick reminder that the trade deadline is fast approaching, so you best get him while you can!
Matchups
5-1 Greg Schiano is an Idiot (231.37) – 2-4 Knuckle Ballers (209.59)
The Idiots come out on top yet again, this time in a week 6 slug fest, besting the Ballers by a little over 20 points. Both teams put up solid numbers, pretty much all over the field, but the difference was mainly on the defense where the Idiots were close to 20 points better. The Ballers are in the mix in the Taco Corp division, despite only having 2 wins. They’re scoring points though, which should turn into W’s as their schedule eases.
2-4 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (214.28) – 4-2 Endzone Dancers (166.01)
The Stache are back in the Win column with a big one over the Dancers. They’ve managed to get themselves back into the playoff hunt for the time being, although their next one is tough with the league leading Idiots. If they can pull off the upset, they may not end up being sellers at the deadline. The Dancers were dealt a dose of reality, getting steamrolled by the Stache and dropping out of the top spot in the Taco Corp division. It sets up a beauty Week 7 match up against the Ballers for said division lead.
3-3 San Juan Bananas (181.68) – 4-2 Loose Bandits (164.99)
The Bananas did what they had to do, holding off the Bandits in a close match up that I expected to be much closer. Their big 3 WR were money this week, and made up for a serious disappointment in the running game. With the win, the Bananas are in a good spot going forward. The Bandits missed a big opportunity to make up ground on the Nagintas with a mediocre performance this week. LeVeon Bell was not his usual MVP self and only 2 offensive players put up double digits, making for an easy defensive outscore. Week 7 shapes up to be a big one with the Bandits facing the aforementioned Nagintas.
4-2 Long Snappers (200.62) – 4-2 Deadly Nagintas (191.98)
The Snappers were full value this week, knocking off the Senor Crabs leading Nagintas in the week’s tightest match up. With the win, the Snappers find themselves still in a playoff position, with what should be a great division rivalry game against the Bananas upcoming. The wide receivers continue to shine for Marky’s club. The Nagintas are smack dab in the middle of a tight race at the top of the division after the loss, with the Chalupas joining the chase. Despite the loss, they did pick up a point on the Bandits. Hopkins continues to put up MVP calibre numbers.
3-3 Chalupa Batman (220.20) – 2-4 Rex in the City (181.36)
The Chalupas appear to be back on track, with a big score and a big W against the Rexes. They’ve worked their way back into the Senor Crabs title mix, with both teams ahead of them losing, while picking up max points themselves. With a healthy Alshon and the Hawks figuring out how to use Jimmy Graham, this will be a tough team to beat from here on in. The season continues to go off the rails for the Rexes, as Aaron Rodgers continues to lose weapons, and Commish continues to lose games. They’re already 7 points out and we haven’t even reached the mid point of the season. With the Packers and Bears on Bye, their season may be over at this time next week.
2-4 Fear Boners (182.57) – 1-5 What Does John Fox Say (132.20)
The Fear Boners come out ahead in this battle for the basement, thoroughly smacking WDJFS for a 50 point win. Big games for Jon Stewart and Michael Wilhoite paced the Boners to their second win of the year, despite a monster performance left on the bench. Larry Fitzgerald had another decent day, which probably means his time on this squad is coming to an end. WDJFS takes over the bottom spot in the league with the loss, and it looks like they’re working on shipping out whatever talent they have outside of Gurley to try and secure more future picks. Their spot in the Frittata Bowl is waiting.
