Mo got one thing right in his predictions, as we do have a Senor Crabs/Taco Corp final, but it will be the number two seed Rexes facing off against the top seeded Nagintas in Igloo Bowl I. After an aptly named Wild Card Weekend, the Semi’s were all low scoring affairs, with all but one game decided, heading into the Monday night game, and what a finish that was, with the Bandits edging out the Dancers by fractions of a point. The Nagintas escaped their match up against WDJFS, who were coming off easily their best performance of the season, while the rest week also helped the Rexes, as they joined their Bye mates in the finale.
On the consolation side, the Boners and Bandits look to battle it out for the 2.13 in the 2015 EBFL Rookie Draft, thanks to wins over the league bottom feeders. Over in the Frittata Bowl, the Snappers have gained some ground on the next 2 squads, and can get out of the basement by beating the Dancers by 34.5 points. The other 2 squads should be safe at this point.
It should be an exciting Championship Week in the EBFL. Good luck to the teams involved!
Igloo Bowl Bracket
#1 Deadly Nagintas (177.30) def #6 What Does John Fox Say (140.20)
Mo was 2 for 2 on his WDJFS predictions, as they fall to the regular season champ Nagintas in the semi-final. Things were looking pretty good for WDJFS heading into the Sunday night game, as the two squads were only separated by a couple points, and they had more players left. Dez Bryant then went on a tear, and Mychal Kendricks was relatively invisible putting the Nagintas in good position to lock it up Monday night. Drew Brees capped off the win with a solid performance against the Bears.
Game MVP: Dez Bryant – Things weren’t looking good for the Nagintas heading into Sunday night, but Bryant turned things around with a 3 TD performance.
Goat: The defense. Only 3 of the 9 players scored more than 3.5 points on the day. Not a recipe for success.
#2 Rex in the City (165.20) def #4 Chalupa Batman (128.90)
Injuries and a lack of depth doomed the Chalupas to a semi final exit against the high powered Rexes. If you had told the Chalupas that the Bills would make Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson look ordinary, they’d have probably liked their chances. Unfortunately for them, it didn’t work out that way as the rest of the Rexes picked up the slack, and cruised to an easy victory. The Rexes are headed to the Ship and the Chalupas are headed for a miserable winter in Owen Sound. At least Antonio Brown keeps his OPOTY chances alive.
Game MVP: DeMarco Murray – An MVP sweep for the Cowboy skill players, as Murray was big yet again for the Rexes.
Goat: Keenen Allen – Allen was picked up expecting to be a solid contributor in the playoffs. Just over 3 points has to be a huge disappointment.
Extra Pick Bracket
#4 Loose Bandits (126.04) def #6 Endzone Dancers (125.98)
In the tightest game of the season, the Bandits squeaked by the Dancers by 6/100’s of a point. Both teams will likely have to wait until Thursday morning before knowing if they’re playing for the extra pick, or beginning their off-season. We’ll pick the game awards based on where things stand right now. We may revisit them come Thursday if there’s a reversal of fortune.
Game MVP: Le’Veon Bell – No surprise here. He’s carried the Bandits down the stretch in a nice run of RB match ups.
Goat: Mark Sanchez – Take your pick between him and Donnell. I’m doubly pissed at these bums, since they cost me a shot at Laker in another league’s final.
#2 Fear Boners (155.40) def #5 Greg Schiano is an Idiot (130.90)
The Boners fortunes are pointing straight up, as they head towards the consolation bracket final, hoping to earn the extra draft pick next May. As of right now, they face their division mate, Bandits, for the 3rd time this season. Both teams have a win in the season series, so the rubber match will decide it. The Schianos head into the off-season looking to pick up high end offensive talent to replace the likes of AP and Megatron. They’ll have the first pick in the rookie draft, which should be a hot commodity with the running back class this year.
Game MVP: Kendrick Lewis – In a low scoring match up, the defense was the difference. A pick six gives Lewis the game ball.
Goat: Cameron Jordan – The Browns TE (and the rest of their offense) can probably thank Johnny Manziel for stinker this week.
Frittata Bowl Standings
- Long Snappers – 280.40 (126.16/154.24)
- Endzone Dancers – 314.88 (170.28/144.60)
- Greg Schiano is an Idiot – 338.18 (166.48/171.70)
- Loose Bandits – 374.02 (213.70/160.32)
