Another exciting week in the EBFL, at least for those that haven’t given up on the season. The Nagintas and Ballers could have locked up division crowns, but fell just short, and have to wait until Week 13. It’s pretty much the same situation atop the Taco Corp division with none of the 3 playoff teams having locked up their position. The only position that has been locked down is the #3 seed, as the Bananas win the Yobagoya division, which is clearly the NFC South of the EBFL. We’ve had yet another incomplete line up, a potential tanking infraction (there may be more on that this week) and the most ridiculous TD catch I’ve seen in recent memory. Don’t forget that this week is American Thanksgiving, so you’ll need to keep on top of your line ups on Thursday as 6 teams go that day.
Playoff Implications
Nothing changed this week with the projected seeds, but the Rexes did pick up a VP on the Chalupas.
Yobagoya Division – The Bananas have it locked up and are sitting in the 3 seed.
Senor Crabs Division – The Nagintas and Chalupas square off this week with the division crown on the line. The Chalupas need to win, and be in a higher VP tier than the Nagintas to win the division. The Chalupas and Nagintas hold the tie break over the Rexes, so any ties there would give them the #4 seed. Not that it likely matters, as the WC team from this division faces the top WC team from Taco Corp in Week 14.
Taco Corp Division – A similar situation in this division, with the top two facing each other. The Rexes need a win and to be in a higher VP tier than the Ballers. They’d get the tie-break for the division crown based on division record. WDJFS is getting the 6 seed unless they win, are a top 4 scoring team and the Rexes get 0 VP. They can probably book their flight to San Juan now.
Matchups
8-4 Rex in the City (176.76) – 2-10 Endzone Dancers (120.58)
Their wasn’t a lot of dancing in this one as the Rexes put an epic beat down on the Dancers for their 8th win of the year.
9-3 Knuckle Ballers (208.26) – 9-3 What Does John Fox Say? (157.28)
The Ballers continue to dominate, getting revenge for their Week 4 loss to WDJFS. Anyone facing the Ballers in the playoffs pretty much have to hope Manning has an off day, or they have next to no shot against this squad. WDJFS loses for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, and now are likely already looking ahead to a Week 14 matchup with the Bananas. The schedule may have given them yet another gift, drawing the weakest team in the playoffs.
10-2 Deadly Nagintas (222.46) – 4-8 Fear Boners (122.24)
The Nagintas are the 2nd team to reach double digits in victories, besting the Boners by 100. The Nagintas go back to back as the highest scoring team, and put themselves in a decent position to take down the division crown in Week 13. The Boners get the Bandits in Week 13, with nothing but pride on the line. The last time these two met, the Boners plowed into the Bandits for a 45 point win.
11-1 Chalupa Batman (161.54) – 3-9 Loose Bandits (150.82)
The Chalupas are quite fortunate the Bandits seem to be in Tank Mode. Is there any other excuse for starting Taylor Gabriel, with Woods and Jenning on the bench? This one may go to the judges for a tanking ruling. Either way, the Chalupas stay alive in the division race and now look to knock off the Nagintas in Week 13 to take the crown.
4-8 Tom Selleck’s Moustache (194.62) – 7-5 San Juan Bananas (162.84)
The Stache is finally getting from their team what they had hoped for all year. The addition of ODB Jr to the line up has been huge for them, and they help lock the Bananas into the 3rd seed and put the rest of the division on notice that they plan to be a playoff team in 2015. The Bananas are limping towards the playoffs, and need better performances from their big wideouts or it’s going to be a one and done and on to next year.
2-10 Greg Schiano is an Idiot (152.14) – 3-9 Long Snappers (132.20)
The Idiots come out ahead in this matchup with the reeling Snappers, despite a huge game from CJ Anderson. There’s not much to say about this one, other than see you in 2015!
Week 12 Awards
Offensive Player of the Week
Justin Forsett (Deadly Nagintas) – Forsett was a Monday Night Monster for the Nagintas, rolling to 190 total yards and 2 TD’s, helping them lock up top score for the week.
Defensive Player of the Week
Calais Campbell (Fear Boners) – Campbell spent most of the afternoon in Russ Wilson’s pocket, dropping him for 3 sacks on the day. Campbell scored almost double what the next highest started DL did.
Rookie of the Week
Odell Beckham Jr (Tom Selleck’s Moustache) – Beckham shredded the Cowboys secondary for 10 catches, 146 yards and 2 scores, including probably the best one handed grab I’ve ever seen.
Goat of the Week
Jacob Tamme (Long Snappers) – The opportunity was there for the Broncos TE, but he laid an egg, nabbing only one catch for -1 yards.
Pickup of the Week
Dan Herron (Fear Boners) – None of the pickups started this week did much of anything, so we’ll give the nod to Herron, who’s now the starting back in Indy. Can’t believe he went so cheaply.
Bench Player of the Week
Robert Woods (Loose Bandits) – Woods made the Jets secondary his bitch, hauling in 9 balls for 118 and a score. He threw a tackle in for good measure. This isn’t so bad on it’s own, but…
Bonehead Coaching Move of the Week
Morgan Loosemore (Loose Bandits) – Taylor Gabriel? You did hear Josh Gordon was back this week right? It’s no surprise the Bandits are the 2nd least efficient team in the league.
